Switzerland is a small Central European country with an area of only 47,000 square kilometers and a population of less than 6.7 million. In peacetime, Switzerland did not have a standing army, with only 1,500 professional officers and professional non-commissioned officers. However, starting from the characteristics of a small country and a small number of people, Switzerland implemented a unique militia armed with a people-to-people alliance and could organize a well-equipped and well-trained 625,000 troops in 48 hours during the war. These include a women’s army composed of Swiss women. This militia is known as the Swiss Women’s Auxiliary Service Unit.
