In this paper, rodent electrophoresis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to determine fecal lactoferrin (LF) in human milk and different feeding neonates. The results showed that the normal pregnant women 1 to 8 days of colostrum LF content of 6.88 ± 3.10mg / ml, 1 to 4 months of mature milk was 3.18 ± 0.87mg / ml. The first 3 days postpartum colostrum LF content highest, then gradually decreased, mature milk stage tends to be stable. There was a significant difference in LF content of newborn feces among different feeding ways (P <0.01). LF detection rate of faeces, breastfeeding children to 100%, only 60% of artificially fed children. A small amount can be detected in the stool, the detection rate was 35%. Simultaneous determination of LF in feces and neonates showed that the high concentration of LF in breast milk had a positive effect on the LF content in the intestine of breastfeeding children. The production of endogenous LF in the human gut has started from the fetal stage but is very limited in the early neonates. Breastfeeding can compensate for the self-generated deficits early in life by delivering a variety of immune substances, including LF, to newborns.
