红粬米是弥渡特产之一,是弥渡弥城独家首创的生物食品调味之佳品。在弥渡制作这种红粬米已有500多年的历史,现如今仅有弥城镇果子园村的几户人家能够制作。因制作成功的粬米颜色呈玫瑰红,又像滴汁的樱桃样鲜红诱人,故称之为“红粬米”。据传红粬米的制作工艺是几百年前就传下的秘方,这一秘方至今无人知晓。在该工艺的制作家庭里,据说有“传男不传女,传媳不传女”的说法。
