(一)运动是在这样情况下开展的山西全省人民的抗美援朝保家卫国运动,是在全国运动的统一精神与步调下开展的,是在全省保卫世界和平的签名运动的基础上开展的。从四月份起,全省各地已经相继展开了保卫世界和平签名运动的宣传工作,截至八月底止,已有六百二十五万三千六百七十一人在和平书上签了名,超过了全省总人口的二分之一。通过这一运动,不论已签和未签名的广大群众,都已初步了解了美帝国主义是世界和平的破坏者,是中国人民的死敌。特别是自六月下旬美帝在朝鲜直接发动了侵略战争并公然侵占我台湾之后,时事宣传增加了新的内容,广大群众的反美仇美情绪,亦随着宣传运动的逐步开展而更加高涨起来。
