Objective: To investigate the role of angiotensin Ⅱ receptors 1 (AT1, AT2) and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection in atherosclerosis. Methods: The HCMV infected cell model was established. The effect of HCMV on the expression of AT1 and AT2 receptor genes in cultured human vascular smooth muscle cells in vitro was studied by using the methods of RT-PCR and ganciclovir (GCV) and AT1 and AT2 receptor antagonists The impact of expression. Results: Human vascular smooth muscle cells (HCMV) infected by HCMV up-regulated the gene expression of AT1 and AT2 receptors. AT1 and AT2 receptor antagonists and GCV could inhibit the activation of AT1 and AT2 receptors in HCMV-infected human cerebrovascular smooth muscle. Conclusion: HCMV infection may induce the proliferation of human vascular smooth muscle cells due to the activation of AT1 and AT2 receptor gene expression.
