In October 1989, CYPC and China Youth Development Foundation launched the “Project Hope” aimed at building a Hope Primary School to subsidize returning children who have dropped out of school in poor areas and to improve the conditions for running schools in rural areas. Now, 25 years later, it is hoped that the project will become the earliest, largest, most widely-participated and most effective social public welfare undertaking in China’s reform and opening up 30 years ago. Over the past 25 years, China hopes that the project will receive a total of 10.725 billion yuan of donations, a total of 9.919 billion yuan of subsidized grants, nearly 5.19 million students, 186412 Hope Primary Schools, 21841 hope construction libraries, 4111 kitchens, happy sports 7106 sets, 1083 sets of happy music, 610 sets of happy movies, 1103 sets of computer classrooms.
