[Movie Information: Geneva Conference] This is a world-renowned conference. Zhang Wentian sat down with such illustrious diplomats as Molotov, Aydin, Pithour and Dulles. The representative of New China is generous and talks solemnly. For the first time, New China boarded the international arena as a big power. Zhang Wentian served as the second violinist. During the meeting, he participated in the planning of two major events that have a profound impact on our diplomacy. One is the first contact between China and the United States in Geneva. It became the prelude to the Sino-U.S. Ambassadorial talks that lasted 15 years later. The other one was to reach an agreement on “establishing diplomatic relations with the former part of the world” with Britain. Both of these things shocked the diplomatic community at the time.
