I often see classmates who have graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago together with me, and from time to time meet the same predecessors and juniors. Most of us are engaged in the art industry in different ways, if not in the traditional full-time artists we were once expected to be. The most impressive graduates of the Art Institute of Chicago are often those who create their own practice and media beyond the realm of painting, sculpture, imaging and critical research. During the school year, many students took their place of residence as an exhibition space, used the living room as the white wall of a gallery, or customized the way the exhibits were displayed.
