对采自我国新疆的6份旱麦草属材料进行的形态学和细胞学研究发现,编号为Z1157、Z1159和Z1160的材料均属于东方旱麦草,并建议将东方旱麦草的分种特征中“颖及外稃被有绒毛”修改为“颖及外稃有或无绒毛”;Z1158和Z1164为旱麦草,Z1165为毛穗旱麦草。对上述材料和来自中东的另5份材料进行的观察发现,旱麦草属植物突出表现为:植株矮小,栽培条件下株高为29.1~57,2cmi分蘖力极强,单株有效分蘖数多数超过100个;花序短而宽,穗长变化于1.9~5.7cm之间,而穗宽达1.5~3.4cm;小穗密集,密度达37~89个/10cm花序;其早熟特性表现为开花一成熟所需时间短,致使成熟期普遍早于普通小麦对照。抗病性鉴定表明,该属植物为小麦白粉病和黄矮病的良好抗源,并鉴定出3份抗白粉病资源以及5份兼抗白粉病和黄矮病的资源。研究还发现,旱麦草属植物亦具有冬春性分化,11份材料中8份表现冬性或弱冬性。

The study also found that the genus Pirandi also has winter and spring differentiation, 11 of the material in the performance of 8 winter or weak winter.
