水冷高度可调冷凝槽是直接水冷半连续铸造的新工具.在普通的冷凝槽内装上一个保温的活动套筒,根据需要调整套筒位置,便可精确地改变冷凝槽的水冷高度.在实验性铸造车间和工厂小型试验中所用冷凝槽的最大规格是1550×508毫米.试验表明,用这种方法铸造,使得可铸造的铝合金增多,产量增加,质量提高,生产安全条件得到改善.铸造速度与冷凝槽的水冷高度以及铸造速度与水流速度之间关系的简单特性,使得这种方法特别适合于自动化生产,而且对金属液的流速不必加以严格控制.
