The contents of zinc, copper, manganese and iron in serum and hair of 30 healthy people and 40 SLE patients were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The results showed that the contents of serum and hair zinc in SLE patients were significantly lower than those in healthy controls (P <0.01) , Serum Zinc in active group decreased further (P <0.01). Suggesting that patients with mild low zinc status and disease activity related. The author believes that the changes of trace elements in patients with SLE can not be attributed to the role of exogenous corticosteroids, and may be related to the redistribution caused by LME.
