桃树的新生枝条,过去一般截然的分为发育枝及结果枝,结果枝又仅按长短进行分类;实际上,桃树的发育枝与结果枝很难区分。据我们观察了解,桃枝条不仅有长短之分,而且有粗细、软硬之别;在生长周期、次数与节奏上,次生枝的发生上,芽的排列习性上都呈现着明显的差異,构成了不同的枝条类型(枝类)。为了确切的反映各类枝之间的差異,以利于科学研究的进行及合理农业技术的制定,我们认为有按上述枝条的综合特性重新进行枝类划分的必要。桃不同品种在一定的年龄时期,树冠中各类枝条的数量组成比例(枝类组成)有一定的变異幅度,构成了各自的“枝类组成型”。在一定的农业技术作用下,枝类组成可产生一定程度的改变。创造良好的枝类组成比例是桃树丰产的基础。
