Objective To investigate the relationship between rest heart rate (RHR), serum lipids, serum high sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CPR) and coronary heart disease in the elderly. Methods From March 2004 to December 2008, 48 heart rate, blood lipids and Hs-CRP in 48 patients aged 60-83 years were observed and compared with 52 normal subjects. Results The levels of RHR and total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density cholesterol and Hs-CPR in CHD patients were significantly higher than those in normal controls (P <0.05), while the levels of HDL cholesterol <0.05). Conclusions The levels of RHR and Hs-CRP can be used as important diagnostic indicators for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease.
