毛泽东诗词中“今”“我”两字以其频繁出现而成为诗人内心倾向的两个强烈的符号，“今”反映了诗人务实重今的价值选择，对中国历史命运和机遇的深刻把握和于有限中贯通于无限的宇宙意识；“我”是阶级之我同个体生命的有机统一，是诗人历史主动性和巨大使命感的集中体现，是特定时代和诗人独特生命体验的结果。这种“贵我”“通今”精神直至今天仍为中华民族所必需。
