英国政府已选定英国航空航天公司作为研制天网-4的主承包商,天网-4是英国新一代的军用通信卫星,共研制两颗,第一颗拟于1985年发射。这代卫星将以欧洲OTS卫星的设计为基础。OTS的设计也曾用于欧空局的欧洲通信卫星、欧洲海事通信卫星和法国的电信-1通信卫星。英国航空航天公司负责卫星的设计和制造工作,马可尼公司负责供应星上的通信有效载荷。
British government has selected British Aerospace Corporation as the main contractor to develop Skynet-4, Skynet-4 is a new generation of British military communications satellite, a total of two, the first to be launched in 1985. This generation of satellites will be based on the design of the European OTS satellite. The OTS was also designed for use by ESA’s European Telecommunications Satellite, European Maritime Communications Satellite and France’s Telecom-1 Communications Satellite. British Aerospace Corporation is responsible for the design and manufacture of satellites, and Marconi is responsible for supplying satellite payloads.
