商丘地区地处淮河支流上游,河道源小流短,又无大的调蓄工程,地表水可利用量甚微。全区水资源总量22.58亿立方米,人均327.7立方米,为全省人均的57.3%,全国人均的13.8%。属严重缺水的地区。工农业及城乡生活主要靠开发地下水,由于多年超采,致使地下水位严重下降,出现大面积漏斗区。为解决商丘地区的缺水问题,省政府决定兴建新三义寨引黄工程。

To solve the water shortage in Shangqiu area, the provincial government decided to build the new Sanyi Village Yellow River Diversion Project.
