This article studies the effect of interleukin-1 (IL-1) on E. coli. Gram-negative bacilli were divided into strains and non-toxic strains according to their sensitivity to the bactericidal effect of normal human serum. Cultivation in the presence of human IL-1β resulted in an increase in colony forming units (CFU) of the strain, with no change in the non-virulent strain.
