Litton Avondale Industries (Avondale), of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, has licensed the SCRIMP ™ process from TPITechnology (TPI) to advanced electronics manufacturing composites for the US Navy’s new San Antonio amphibious landing craft Antenna Tower / Detector (AEM / S). Eight will be built at Avondale in New Orleans and four at Bath Iron in Maine. TPI’s chief engineer said the tower is molded to a flat cross-section of up to 12.5m × 4.8m. All exterior panels are made of E-glass, carbon, vinyl ester and foam containing PEI foam, PVC foam and light wood core
