On January 10, 2012, China Agricultural Development Bank announced the first issue of renminbi bonds in Hong Kong and successfully completed the bookkeeping and filing process on the same day. As the first Chinese-funded renminbi bond in 2012, the successful issuance by ADBC opened a good head start for 2012 RMB bond market in Hong Kong. Further enriching Hong Kong’s RMB investment varieties as one of China’s policy banks. After ADB followed China Development Bank and China Eximbank, it landed in Hong Kong to issue renminbi bonds.
