1987年6月14日《光明日报》刊载了我国古人类学家吴汝康先生的《“金牛山人”是猿人吗?》一文,我作为金牛山遗址发掘的主持者和金牛山遗址综合研究课题的负责人,有责任就吴汝康先生所提出的几个问题,谈谈自己的意见并澄清一些问题。一、关于“世界上最完整的直立人骨架”问题在今年第4期《人民画报》上,刊出了我所撰写的一篇有关“金牛山人”的文章。此文是用中文写的。在交稿的时候,我和编辑部的有关同志谈好,中文版和英文版校样出来后一定要给我看一下,以免有文字和翻译上的错误。但是在文章发表之前,我未看到校样。6月15日,我出差返京的当天才看到这期《人民画报》中文版,同一天也拜读了吴汝康先生的文章。经查核英文版《中国画报》,方知将中文版的“一具罕见的、较完整的猿人化石”错译为“世界上最完整的直立人骨架。”另外将中文版的“金牛山人生存的地质时代为中更新
