骨器像石器一样,也是远古人类使用的一类工具,只不过它是由骨头,而不是由石头制成的。对于远古人类的石器的认识过程,在历史上曾经历了很长久的时间。据记载古代人早就发现了远古人类的石器,可是他们不明白它是什么东西。有的人认为形状特别的石器是天然的产物,是大自然的游戏,未予重视。有的人认为它是神物,如我国古代曾把石器当作天神雷公的斧子,名为雷斧。直到十七世纪末期,才有人认识到石器是古代人所使用的工具。这是欧洲人发现新大陆以后,从印第安人使用石器这—事实的启发下,作出的推断。到十八世纪末,由于地质学和古生物学的进步,有的学者已能根据地质古生物证据,作出科学的论断,认为人类的历史是极久的,人类在创世纪前已经存在,他们使用石器,尚不知道利用金属。虽然这些科学论断是正确的,但不被当时的人们所接受,这是因为当时的世界仍然被宗教迷信所笼罩,上帝造
