目前,渗硼工艺方法有液体法、气体法、固体法、离子渗硼法和流动粒子炉渗硼法等。但这些渗硼方法都要求有特殊的渗硼设备和严密的处理条件,限制了它在工业上的广泛应用。为此,日本名古屋工业技术研究所的生田史朗等人,利用硼砂在大气中具有稳定性这一特点,研制了在铝浴中对被覆硼砂的钢铁工件表面实现渗硼的新方法,取得了可降低渗硼温度、简化处理工艺、改善工件表面清理效果、提高渗层质量和降低工艺成本的效果。
