The purpose of this paper is to use the dual-tone theory proposed by the Russian theorist Bakhtin to explore the dual discourse of the marriage of the protagonist Wang Long and Alan in the novel The Great Earth, so as to reveal the hidden concern for Pearl S. Buck as an author.
