In the early hours of March 18, 1871, the reactionary Thielerian troops dispatched troops to Montmartre Heights in the north of Paris to pluck the National Guard to donate forged cannon in an attempt to disarm the Paris proletariat and anger Paris Civil War. Pictured above is the impressive lineup of the National Guard’s artillery standing on the heights of Montmartre.
