“奥林匹克运动会”不是一个新名词,它约有2500年的历史了。古代奥运会起源于古老的伊利斯王国(位于今天的希腊)的一个叫做“奥林匹亚”的地方。奥林匹亚位于雅典城西南360公里的阿尔菲斯河山谷,这里风景如画,气候宜人。古希腊人在这里建了许多神殿,因此,古人把这块土地叫做“阿尔菲斯神城”,也称“圣地奥林匹亚”。依当时的信念,它象征着和平和友谊,这也是“奥林匹克”这个词的来历。
“Olympic Games” is not a new term, it has about 2500 years of history. Ancient Olympics originated in a place called “Olympia” in the ancient Kingdom of Elis (in today’s Greece). Olympia is located 360 kilometers southwest of Athens City Al Fes River valley, where the picturesque, pleasant climate. The ancient Greeks built many shrines here, so the ancients called the land “the god of the Alphonse,” or “holy place of Olympia.” According to the conviction of the day, it symbolized peace and friendship, which is also the origin of the word “Olympic”.
