According to the report, Luo Yinguo, Party secretary of Maoming, Guangdong, was arrested on February 11. His wife and secretary were detained at the same time.
This is the second government official under arrest after Chen Yachun, former vice mayor of Maoming. Chen was arrested last November. It is said that Luo Yinguo’s arrestment is related with the collapsed dam of Zking Mineral Co., Ltd.
The observant don’t show too much surprise about Luo’s fall. Since he took the Party secretary of Maoming, this city’s standing vice mayor Yang Guangliang, vice mayor Chen Yachun, public security department’s head Ni Junxiong and so on, fell of corruption one by one. These corrupt officials were related with each other. Therefore, it is nor strange for Luo Yinguo, who is the highest government official in Maoming, to get engaged in the corruption network in Maoming.
Previously, it was said that Luo Yinguo’s total assets reached multi-million yuan. He was allegedly involved in many mine owners’ trade of government positions. Luo’s social network was very complicated in Maoming. When he took the party secretary of Maoming, his sister, his sister’s husband and his wife’s brother all took important positions in different government departments of Maoming.
Luo Yinguo, 57, was born in Gaozhou, Guangdong. He was once a teacher in a primary school. After working in Gaozhou for 26 years, he became a government official in Maoming, where he climbed to the position of party secretary in April 2007.
