Merchant Property announced on February 15 that its former board chairman Sun Chengming had already resigned. The company’s general manager was appointed new chairman and his position as general manager was taken by his assistant He Jianya.
Lin Shaobin was born in 1960. He also serves as board chairman and general of Shenzhen Merchant Real Estate Co., Ltd. Prior to that, Lin once served as the general manager of Shekou Industrial Park Real Estate Co., Ltd, general manager of Engineering Property Business Department of Merchant Group, assistant to general manager of Shekou Industrial Park, etc. Presently Lin Shaobin holds 41,670 shares of Merchant Property in the yuan-denominated A-share market and 100,500 shares of HK dollar-denominated B-share market.
Lin Shaobin is described as a person with simple resume and low profile. After graduating from the Architecture Department, Tsinghua University, he never left the real estate field. He only served one company – Merchant Group – apart from his position in the government department. He climbed from an ordinary engineer to the executive position.
Since Merchant Property’s shakeup happened against the background of real estate regulation and control, people attached much importance to this matter. Actually, after the issuance of ten rules about real estate on September 30, 2010, more than 20 property companies saw the personnel changes of their executive positions.
The analysts say that the frequent personnel changes in the property companies are somewhat attributed to the stress brought by the intensive regulation and control over the property market. In addition, some property companies’ executives choose to retire after gaining success in their career life.
