玉米矮花叶病毒(MDMV)在田间主要依靠介体蚜虫以非持久性方式传播。通过麦二叉蚜(Schizaphis graminum)对MDMV传毒效率影响因素的分析,发现接毒蚜获毒前禁食与否及禁食时间的长短与传毒效率呈高度正相关。从蚜量与传毒效率的关系来看,多头蚜虫的传毒效率均比单头蚜高。随着MDMV浓度和传毒蚜量的增加,传毒效率也随之提高。单蚜获毒10min后不禁食其传毒效率最高。随着禁食时间的延长,其传毒效率逐渐降低,当禁食时间为35min时,其传毒效率为0,说明单蚜的最长持毒期不超过35min。另外,接毒蚜禁食与否,均在接种叶龄为4叶期时传毒效率最高。无论蚜虫传播还是机械传播均以在花叶区获毒或取材的传毒效率高,这可能与花叶区病毒浓度较高有关。蚜虫自病毒同源的辅助因子(HC)与MDMV混合处理的饲毒液获毒后的接毒率均比未混合HC的(其传毒率为0)饲毒液高,说明MDMV的蚜虫传播必须依赖于HC的存在。从MDMV与HC的比例看,随着HC量的加大,其传毒率也随之提高。HC存在时,蚜量越大其传毒率越高。
