Greenland glacial caves The Greenland glacial caves are formed when seasonal ice and snow melt or geothermal vents create cracks and channels that run through the ice sheet. Because they are made of ice, the caves are so unstable that they can collapse at any moment. It takes tremendous courage to explore such caves.
