本文类比其他科学分支比较研究的方法,提出一新的学科分支——“比较地震学”,旨在与相邻科学中近年来所出现的新观点、新理论、新方法、新技术进行比较研究,寻求解决当前地震学所面临问题的新途径和新方法,并打算将这些比较研究的对象、内容与方法系统化,得出具有规律性的认识,促进地震学的发展。本文列举了在震级标度研究中与天文、地学、物理学参量进行比较研究的实例,提出了改进震级标度的途径,并讨论了在研究大陆和板内地震趋势、地幔对流与地震成因等方面的应用。
