新近出版发行的《西方文艺思潮与二十世纪中国文学》(乐黛云、王宁主编,中国社会科学出版社,下文简称《思潮》),是一部我国近年比较文学研究出版物中难得的力著。二位主编在近些年来的比较文学基本原理研究以及平行研究、影响研究等方面成绩斐然,得到了国内外同行的瞩目。书中的诸位中青年作者以在世界格局中重新审视中国文学的宏阔眼光,从各自所熟悉的角度并运用比较的方法,就西方的现实主义、浪漫主义、现代主义、弗洛伊德主义和人道主义等思潮对中国二十世纪文学观念的影响,西方的意象派诗歌、表现主义戏剧、现代派小说对中国创作模式的冲击等问题,进行了系统的梳理与扎实的论证,从而对在广泛的文化背景上理解中国现当代文学现象提出了许多重要的见解。注意引进文艺解释学和接受美学、接受理论的观念和方法,重视研究接受者积极能动的主体建构作用,是全书的一大特色。以往的文学史著作在划分文学生活的要素,分析构成艺术价值的诸因素等方面,往往只注意到创作者及其作品,而接受的问题以及由此而涉及到的接受者——艺术过程的第三组成部分问题,直到二十世纪才为人们所注意,在中国这个问
