Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County is located in the eastern part of Chongqing, the southern bank of the Yangtze River and the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. It is the only minority autonomous county in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and the birthplace of the famous folk song “The Sun Comes Out of the Ocean.” On August 26, 2009, when studying in Shizhu, Secretary Bo Xilai thought that the planning and design of the town of Huangshui in Shizhu County had been very successful, demonstrating the livable style of Tujia. For a time, yellow water became the focal point of town planning and design for the whole town - and this was only a “microcosm” of the sample of a living stone pillar.
