总理问:“现在生活怎么样,食堂好不好?”老汉们说:“好,好,好!”总理听他们的口气不是真心话,干脆直截了当地问:“散了食堂行不行?”三个老汉惊呆了,说:“啊,真的,真的?”“真的,行不行?”总理又问。“真散食堂,那可谢天谢地!”三个老汉乐得合不上嘴。1961年春天,是我一生中最难忘最不平凡的春天。我有幸参加了周总理亲自领导的工作组,跟随周总理和邓大姐去河北农村调查研究。如今虽已过去44年,可总理的言谈举止、音容笑貌,仍不时浮现在眼前。

I am fortunate enough to participate in the working group led by Premier Zhou personally and follow the investigations conducted by Premier Zhou and Deng Dashen in rural areas in Hebei province. Now that 44 years have passed, the premier’s speech and appearance can still be seen from time to time.
