朱仙镇是中国四大古镇之一,以制作木版年画而闻名,木版年画是朱仙镇的旗帜,是中国年画的鼻祖,它起于唐代兴于北宋,鼎盛于明清,距今已有800年历史,是现今中国历史最为悠久的年画。朱仙镇木版年画的产生和发展与当时社会经济的飞跃和科学技术的高度发展分不开。北宋初年,经济发达,文化活跃,加之活字印刷术的发明,将我国雕版印刷业推向繁荣。自此,年画也由笔画转向刻板印刷。据北宋孟元老著《东京梦华录》
Zhu Xianzhen is one of China’s four major ancient towns and is famous for making woodcut New Year pictures. The woodblock New Year picture is the banner of Zhu Xianzhen. It was the originator of Chinese New Year pictures. It started in the Northern Song Dynasty in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The history of the year is the oldest new year picture in China. The emergence and development of woodcut New Year paintings at Zhuxian Town are inseparable from the social and economic leap forward at that time and the high development of science and technology.
