On February 13, Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government held a symposium on implementing the “Overall Development Plan of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone” in Beijing. Some central government officials and experts attended the forum, focusing on how to further promote the construction and opening up of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone to put forward opinions and suggestions. Fujian Provincial Committee, Governor Su Shulin presided over the forum. Sun Chunlan, secretary of the Fujian provincial party committee and director of the Provincial People’s Congress, said that Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone is located on the east side of the Taiwan Strait with a total land area of 392.92 square kilometers. It is the fifth largest island in the country and the largest island in Fujian with a vast space for development.
