化妆品在改革开放之前还没形成一个行业,全国化妆品生产企业不过百余家,产值仅为3.5亿元人民币,老三样蚌壳油、百雀羚以及雪花膏都是归在小商品门类的产品。改革开放之后,1985年全国化妆品销售额达到10亿元,1995年为190亿元,10年间增长了18倍,以后化妆品的发展更加突飞猛进,到2005年为960亿元,2006年超过1 000亿元。到2011年,据统计化妆品生产企业已有3 400余家,销售额为1 730亿
