早在1991年，江泽民总书记就曾经指出：“四个现代化，哪一化也离不开信息化。 ”时隔十年，2001年6月，江总书记视察浦东智能化小区住友?名人花园时，对浦东新区信息 化建设成果给予了高度评价。社会信息化，是指人类社会活动的所有主要方面经受信息技术的影响、渗透、改造、磨合、 创新的一种现象及其发展的全过程。作为中国改革开放的象征和信息化建设的先行示范区， 浦东开发开放11年以来，在信息基础设施、以微电子为核心的信息产业发展、信息技术的应 用和推广以及政府推进信息化等方面都取得了较大突破，对上海尽快建成国际经济、金融和 贸易“三个中心”的推动作用日益彰显。本刊发表这组文章，展示了世界经济全球化和信息 化大背景下浦东新区的国民经济和社会信息化的发展轨迹，凸现出上海浦东以其快速提升的 综合竞争力参与世界经济角逐的态势，目的在于欢迎海内外各界人士更加关注和热情推动浦 东构建世界级信息化新城区的进程。
