It has been reported that the mixed metamorphic rocks in the high-grade metamorphic zones are formed by partial melting in situ. Although comparable, almost no one so far has been rigorously tested with field observations and related geochemical and experimental data. This is especially true for layered rock. If in-situ partial melting can be considered as a working hypothesis of the formation of stratiform, then petrological observations should provide detailed evidence, but so far such evidence is lacking. In terms of the interpretation of the formation of mixed rocks, there are not only conflicting patterns, but also inconsistencies between such patterns and field observations.
