The rapid advances in optics, especially in laser technology, have revolutionized the field of biomedical imaging, sensing and diagnostics and have had a huge impact. As a new interdisciplinary discipline, laser medicine and biophotonics provide favorable conditions for the development of biomedical applications and basic theoretical research. It combines many disciplines to explore the application of photon technology in biological research and medical diagnosis and treatment. It has become an internationally rapidly developed field and has achieved many exciting achievements. The “China Laser” is scheduled to launch in September 2009 (EI Core Collection)
