Introduction In order to develop better eye protection and augmentation devices and rapidly translate them into product supply manipulators, the Joint Production and Surveillance Eye Enhancement Team (VEEP-IPT) was created in 1994. The initial goal of this multidisciplinary team was to design a pilot survey to identify the key visual functions and eye protection issues that prevail in the context of manipulation and to develop the correct requirements for manipulating vision research. Methods 161 questionnaires were sent from the AFPC / DPSAS headquarters to all 31,205 flight attendants, including Active Service, Reserve Service and Guard Service. The survey included flight attendants’ glasses, contact lenses, clinical coverage, sunglasses and goggles, laser eye protection, night vision goggles and visual standards. Results More than 55% of all personnel and 60% of active air crew responded to the questionnaire, and in the case of flight attendants, the wear rate of spectacles was generally higher than that of the previous study
