我以前没有见到过《华字汇报》,也不了解这张报纸的历史,仅仅从戈公振《中国报学史》里,知道是早期的北京新闻纸之一。从最近才找到的72至100号合订本看,这张报纸是光绪乙巳(1905)年发刊的,是农历8月份的报纸。根据一则新闻按语,又像是天津出版的,并不是北京。容量有如现在的四开,但版面狭长。每日六版,头一版并无报头,还可能是当时新闻纸的附刊。所以说“汇”,是报纸刊载的新闻等等,基本上是从全国各地报刊转录,自己采访、撰写的很少。内
