亿万年前,一场著名的地质运动燕山期地壳运动,造就了一方美丽富饶的土地,三千年,从铜草花在铜绿山头兑相绽放的那一刻起,黄石地区就注定与矿冶结下了不解之缘。铜绿山古铜遗址位于湖北省大治市西南约3公里的金湖之畔。据清修《大治县志》的记载,铜绿山“山顶高平,巨大对峙,每骤雨过时,有铜绿如雪花小豆点缀上石之上,故名”。
