当今的国际共产主义运动虽处于低潮,但在八十年代末以来的中国大地上,却出现了一股“毛泽东热”.各地相继出版、刊载了大批研究毛泽东和毛泽东思想的论著,许多作品讴歌了毛泽东的伟绩,正确宣传了毛泽东思想.但也出现了一些需要进一步研讨的观点与问题,例如,有的研究者认为,毛泽东“没有钻研过”经济理论,有的甚至全盘否定毛泽东晚年的思想和实践.这些论断,不仅是一种失诸慎重的表现,而且还表明需要加强对毛泽东经济思想的研究.邓小平同志一贯强调要“完整地准确地理解毛泽东思想”.他说:“毛泽东思想不是在个别的方面,而是在许多领域发展了马克思列宁主义.毛泽东思想是个体系,是发展了的马克思列宁主义.所以……做理论工作的同志,要花相当多的功夫,从各个领域阐明毛泽东思想的体系.要用毛泽东思想的体系来教育我们的党,来引导我们前进.”
