世界上的建筑物越盖越高,电梯跟着也越升越高。在北京众多的建筑中,长城饭店算是个庞然大物了,那里电梯能升高到70多米。中国科学院大气物理研究所为研究大气,在北京建造了一座铁塔,安装工人曾计划在塔中安装一部电梯,这部电梯将能升到320米的高空。这个高度目前在亚洲称得上是首屈一指了,可是与世界上其它著名的摩天建筑比较,它却只能算个矮个子。美国纽约的帝国大厦、世界贸易中心的高度都在400米以上,而波兰的“华尔扎那”电视塔的高度为646.38米,这是迄今为止按绝对高度讲为地球上最高的工程构筑物。不过,要不了几年,“华尔扎那”电视塔也要显得逊色了,因为国际科学技术博览会将
