短篇佳作,贵在婉而成章,更贵在能用极凝练的笔墨绘画出耐人寻味的意境,容纳发人深思的哲理,既给人以美的享受,又给人以真的、善的启发。这非得有炉火纯青的艺术功力不可。郭沫若是开拓新诗的一代宗师。这篇小品文在《晨报副刊》发表时,作者在“短序”中说:“我在日本时生活虽是赤贫,但时有牧歌的情绪袭来,慰我孤寂的心地。我这几章小品便是随时随处把这样的情绪记录下来的东西。”这是我们理解《水墨画》的一把钥匙。

This must be a perfect art. Guo Moruo is a great master of new poetry. A few chapters are things that record such emotions everywhere and at any time.” This is a key to our understanding of Ink and Wash.
