Despite several years of experimentation, Powerline Broadband Internet (BPL) has proven to be more suitable for home networking than broadband access, but BPL is still showing significant advantages in breaking barriers to entry, thanks to wireless broadband adoption. Wireless broadband access technology has been applied in Asia, particularly in developing countries where DSL supplements or replaces copper where the copper is in poor condition or there is no copper at all. But in the face of multi-dwelling units (MDUs), wireless broadband is having trouble with indoor coverage. Ray Owen, Head of Wireless Broadband at Motorola Asia Pacific, said: “Due to physical laws, we are unable to secure 100% reliable wireless broadband in the MDUs’ basements.” Motorola’s solution is to introduce wireless broadband to such homes and then gateway the Ethernet Network signal into BPL signal, the latter can live
