近十年来,笔者在将要付之一炬、众多而杂乱的树根中,发现了一些适宜于创作人物的根材,如获至宝。经精心构思后,创作了一组如《春秋赞》(图见彩页插一)、《南海归来》(图见彩页插一)、《侍儿扶起娇无力》(见题图)、《奔月》、《长空舞》等古典(神话)人物作品,现谈几点肤浅体会。人体美是自然美的最高形式,是造型艺术的主要表现对象。我国是一个具有悠久文化传统的国家,在古代遗留下来的丰富民族文化遗产中,有许许多多的古典(神话)人物形象,为造型艺术提供了广泛的创作题材,当然也为根艺创作古典(神话)人物作品,创造了良好的条件。在创作古典(神话)人物中,如何表现出不同时期、不同环境下不同人物的状貌、神态、气质和风度等个性特征,则比创作飞禽走兽、花木鱼虫之类的作品难度要大。所以说,创作根艺古典(神话)人物作品是
