Since Gregory’s initial use of respirators in idiopathic respiratory distress syndrome has become increasingly accepted with continuous positive pressure breathing in adult patients with respirators removed. The author is equipped with a new positive pressure breathing apparatus (Turbo-PEEP-Wea-ner) in the general ward. After more than two years of use, this device proved to be satisfactory. The patient can breathe continuously and positively through a hermetically sealed mask. After surgery or trauma, impaired gas exchange is often accompanied by a reduction in functional residual volume. Bloating is often a contributing factor. hemp
