A Visit from the Goon Squad是当代美国女作家珍妮弗·伊根的代表作,中文译为《恶棍来访》。通过对比阅读发现,小说中文译文有值得商榷之处。从探讨直译与意译的重要性入手,结合语境进行说明,可以看出《恶棍来访》的翻译存在不够准确和选词重复等问题,这极大地影响了小说的翻译质量。优秀的文学翻译应坚持忠实于原文这一基本前提,并灵活地运用直译与意译的翻译策略。
A Visit from the Goon Squad is a contemporary American writer Jennifer Egan’s masterpiece, the Chinese translated as “villain visit.” By comparing the reading discovery, the Chinese translation of the novel is worth discussing. From the discussion of the importance of literal translation and free translation, combined with the context, we can see that the translation of “villain visit” is not accurate enough and repetition of selected words, which greatly affects the translation quality of the novel. Excellent literary translation should adhere to the basic premise of being faithful to the original text and flexibly use the translation strategies of literal translation and free translation.
