Japan is a coastal country that has always placed the maritime and air forces as the focus of its national defense construction. During World War II, Japan once possessed naval forces that could contend with the U.S. Pacific Fleet, but its total tank output was less than 5,000, only a fraction of the Soviet Union and U.S. tank production. The post-war Japanese army was dissolved, but the ensuing Cold War gave Japan an opportunity to be re-armed. In 1954, after the Soviet Union's Pacific Fleet was equipped with a large number of amphibious ships and deployed several elite Marine Corps, Japan upgraded its security force “Police Reserve” to SDF and began receiving M24 “Xiafei ” light from the United States Tanks and
